It's been a little while since our last post, but here are some updates from the last few weeks.

The Target India family created a videogram for Kirk!  The link is below, and it can also be found on the Team Kirk page with the other Target photos and on Kirk's You Tube channel.

Two event reminders, since they're coming up quickly:

September 19, 2015 (1:00 pm): Join us for a benefit on the lake, complete with a chicken feed, raffles, door prizes, a silent auction, and a bake sale!  Some of the items available include a big screen TV, kayak, and an original pastel professionally framed.

September 26, 2015 (9:30 am): Join us for a co-ed softball game at Concordia St. Paul.  Cost is $75 per person, which includes softball entry, a "Concordia 4 Kirk" t-shirt, pizza or hot dogs & beverage, admission to CSP vs Bemidji State football is free with "Concordia 4 Kirk" shirt.  If you haven't registered and you'd like to play, contact Mark "Lunch" McKenzie.

A Record-Breaking Tailgate

We had an amazing turnout for the first Gopher tailgate of the season!  Alexa showed her Gopher pride in her adorable onesie, and Kirk even made an appearance via FaceTime.  He made sure to let us know his previous record for tailgaters was 60, and we definitely beat it!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped organize, make food, and man the grill, especially Jeff Bakal and Barbara Bakal, the Target crew, the Schoenbergs, Kroekers, and Piens, and the Woodbury Lutheran Church small group!

 

The Gopher cheerleaders even made an appearance at the hospital to give Kirk a dose of game day! (And notice... NO MORE TRACHE!)

Target Love

Kirk has always raved about his Target team, and now we all know why... they're pretty awesome. Not only did they organize a benefit the week after Kirk's accident, but they've continued to send their love and prayers, and pass along their great ideas and research on spinal cord injuries and treatments.

We shared some of these on Facebook, but here are a few photos from The Pourhouse in Minneapolis last month.

In addition, the Target crew has created a couple of videos, which are linked below and can also be found on the photo gallery page.  If you're interested in creating a video message for Kirk, there's a YouTube station set up called "Kirk Ingram" and you can send your videos to Molly Firnstahl (molly.firnstahl@target.com) or Jordy Anderson (jordy.anderson@target.com) to be uploaded to the channel.

Fundraiser Updates

Gopher Tailgating

Gear up for a new season of Gopher Football and join us for some good food, yard games, and great company! Team Kirk will be tailgating at the first game of the season vs. TCU on Thursday, September 3, beginning at 3:30 pm.  We'll be in LOT 37, in the NE area of the lot (if you've tailgated with the crew before, it's the same location).

Food will be available around 4:00, with a suggested $10 donation to cover costs and to aid Kirk's fund.  BYOB.

We will also have available the new Team Kirk t-shirts available, with a suggested donation of $20 each for Kirk's fund.  The shirts come in maroon or gold.  Team Kirk bracelets will be available as well, for a suggested donation of $2 each.

Buffalo Wild Wings

If you're tailgating or going to the Gopher game on Thursday, and you'd like to help Kirk at the same time, head over to Buffalo Wild Wings on campus!  They're helping raise money for Kirk's recovery in a couple different ways:

1. “Eat Wings Raise Funds” is being held in Kirk's honor at the U of M location (Station 19, U of M Campus, 2001 University Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414) on Thursday, September 3.  Visit this location and order "to go" or dine inside the restaurant or on the patio, and Buffalo Wild Wings will provide 10% of your bill to Kirk's fund.  Anything made under the "big tent" will NOT go towards Kirk's fundraiser.

2. “Home Team Advantage” will go from September 3 - December 31, 2015.  Show the card below at the U of M campus Buffalo Wild Wings, and 10% of your bill will go back to Kirk's fund. You can show a printed version of the card or show it to your server on a mobile device. This is a 6-month fundraising campaign and a new card will be posted in December with a date to expire 3 months from there. PLEASE NOTE: This is the ONLY location currently running this campaign.  More details will be provided related to any other locations joining in.
